Redox reactions

(0)
Pack including PowerPoint, practical sheet, technician request and activity cards. With opportunities for independent learning and stretch and challenge all based around building learner skills when writing half equations and overall redox equations. Suitable for both AQA and OCR A level Chemistry and even IB Chemistry. Reaction cards provide clues to support pupils with the writing of half equations and redox equations. Learning objectives Knowledge Assign oxidation states to molecules and ions Skills Carry out redox reactions and use observations to deduce half equations for reactions taking place Extended thinking Write an overall redox equation to show the formation of copper (I) iodide Write an overall redox equation for reactions involving vandium ions

Standard solutions and Pharmacy

(0)
PowerPoint covering preparation of a standard solution practical and associated mole calculations to practice with answers. Also links real life application of solutions with examples from pharmacy, students can attempt to calculate quantities required from mock prescriptions. Extension work with pharmacy links is also provided.

Le Chatelier's Matching Cards

(0)
Matching pairs game based on the application of Le Chatelier's principle, suitable for both AS and A level chemistry. Students can play in pairs or larger groups. Two possible ways to play: All cards face down on the table, player chooses two cards, if they get an equilibrium reaction and a change in condition they have to explain how the position of equilibrium will change. If they get it right they win the pair. Deal cards out among a larger group any remaining cards in middle of table, players take turns to show a matching pair from their pack, and if they explain correctly (as above) they win the pair. Player with the most pairs wins. Red cards are stretch and challenge cards.
