AQA A Level Music - AOS1 (Baroque/Classical/Romantic) Characteristics

(1)
A concise but highly detailed revision resource for the Baroque solo concerto, Classical Opera and Romantic Piano Music to suit AQA AS and A Level Music. This 6-page guide summarises the key features of each genre, broken down by element of music, going into further detail on each of the set composers’ individual styles. It is a very useful resource to support essay planning / structure, and to support pupils in preparing for 10-mark questions in both Section A and B of the paper. Pupils can use this resource to quickly compare and contrast composers within the featured genre, contexualising high level vocab to support better quality written responses. Colour version and plain version provided for ease of printing.

AQA GCSE Music - "Features of Genre" Revision Guide

(0)
A colourful, concise, yet highly detailed guide to all genres within AQA GCSE Music. “Features of the Genre” questions will crop up several times on an exam paper, each worth 3-4 marks, and these questions are notoriously badly answered. This guide is excellent preparation for those tricky questions. A Powerpoint presentation and .pdf format is provided for ease of use. This resource will give pupils a better overview on each AOS, embedding higher quality vocabulary and in a format that makes compare and contrast activities very straightforward. This PP can easily be modified into a quiz, turned into flashcards, or used in a wide range of interactive formats.

GCSE Music Language for Learning - complete glossary

(0)
A complete glossary for AQA GCSE Music, with elements of music in DR SMITH order, each on a separate page. Definitions are not completed - this should be an interactive / revision resource for pupils to use as a reference guide to support their listening. It is also a helpful teaching tool to keep track of vocab acquisition. Pupils can interact with this glossary in numerous ways. Colour-coding (traffic lights) is a helpful activity which can then be revisited as language is acquired during the course.

GCSE / A Level Music: Mixed ability postcard activity

(0)
This activity is essentially a game / competition that can either be used as a starter or an entire lesson, and can be repeated many times. The basic rules of the game are as follows: 1.Complete as many postcards as possible 2.Each postcard is scored according to difficulty 3.The pupil/s with the highest total/s at the end wins a prize The postcards cover a range of musical skills including theory, composition, historical and contextual understanding, genre, and instrumental techniques. They can be used just for fun as an end of term activity or even a cover lesson, but can also have a real purpose as an ice-breaker for a new class instead of a baseline test. They are fairly advanced for GCSE (most GCSE pupils would be completing 3-5 point cards), but they provide a real stretch and challenge for particularly creative and advanced pupils. Pupils will become particularly competitive if prizes are on offer!

AQA GCSE Music - All AOS Revision Summary

(4)
AQA GCSE MUSIC - a 1-page, concise summary of the musical features of all genres of each AOS. There is a huge amount of information for a single page document, but it is a helpful reference guide to be viewed at a glance. The resource can be used interactively in several ways; one of our favourites is to cut the page up into individual genre squares and play card games with them such as match and snap. They are also useful for memory aides, and writing frames for longer answers. This resource is free - please do view my other GCSE and A Level resources for more in-depth revision and support material.
