More and Less

(0)
One More, One Less / Ten More, Ten Less Number Strips Provide children with laminated number strips showing a range of numbers. Cut the strips into individual sections and use them alongside mini whiteboards and whiteboard pens. Children select a number from the strip and write the number that is one more, one less, ten more, or ten less on their whiteboard. Encourage pupils to explain how they know their answer and identify patterns within the number system. The strips can be laminated for durability and repeated use, allowing children to practise independently, with a partner, or as part of a guided group activity. This resource supports the development of place value understanding, counting forwards and backwards, and recognising the effect of adding or subtracting 1 and 10.
