Kensuke Kingdom's Vocabulary Lesson

(0)
This lesson’s focus is to explore some sophisticated vocabulary within Michael Morpurgo’s book ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. Teacher to write out words highlighted in pink on bits of paper and put into a bottle. Explain that this bottle has got swept up from sea and that we need to investigate what these words mean. Children to explore vocabulary (differentiated) on proforma. They can look these words up on ipads/in thesauruses. They can also use the context to inform their understanding. They can then use what they have read to try writing their own paragraph- bridging the gap between reading and writing to try and encourage children to not see them as two separate skillsets but as symbiotic learning skills.
