The aim of this session is to embed British Values concepts with learners with English as an additional language or English for speakers of other languages. The British Values concepts are broken down in to discussions that will support learners to understand the meaning. On each slide learners are giving a choice or an idea to discuss. There are 20 scenarios in total. This can be used as a filler/extension activity where you just choose 1 slide to discuss or could be delivered as a lesson itself (approximately 1 hour)

The aim of this session is to familiarise learners with command words that may be used in assignment briefs or exam questions. The intention is to separate the command word from the subject specialisms to support learners in understanding what the verb e.g. identify, analyse, evaluate etc, is asking of them. This slide show is a universal study skills session and can be used for any curriculum area. You will need to provide the biscuits however!

The aim of this resource is to support learners in using alternative vocabulary for assignment or essay writing when referring to other people’s work The session includes activities that encourage learners to apply different words such as “says”, “looked at” “agrees with” etc The session starts with learners working together to choose different words for text The later half of the session encourages learners to find people to agree or disagree with them on statements such as “Teachers should be paid more than Doctors” so that they can start building on analytical skills by finding peers who agree or disagree with them The session is structured to build upon study skills terminology and should last around 1 hour
