L.O. To explore the use of Hindu mythology within the poem A lesson for the study of Name Journeys in AQA’s new anthology for GCSE - Worlds and Lives. This lesson explores key terms with students, explodes key quotations and helps students understand Hindu mythology - Rama and Sita. Complete with exit tickets and embedded video.

Acts 1-5 Each scene is organised with an image, summary and a key quotation. This grid has been given to students to help them track the plot and recall key moments and quotations. Particularly helpful for weak students or those with additional needs.

All students studied the Bone Sparrow, this scheme was for a nurture group. Complete scheme with 36 lessons, supporting resources and assessments. Supported by SENDCO. Lessons interleave a variety of skills whilst teaching about refugee camps.

Really helpful resource for LA students and those with additional needs in particular. Useful for GCSE revision with AQA exam board. Clearly organised with SENd friendly font, size and spacing. Colour coordinated. I printed these double sided and laminated to create packs for specific students which were received lots of praise from parents and SLT.

End of unit Sonnet Quiz - fun quiz to check student’s understanding of sonnets. Complete with 3 rounds and a bonus round plus answers. Multiple choice, anagrams, true or false. Bonus round - guess the song turned into a sonnet. I have used this quiz in my year 8 lessons after exploring sonnets before teaching Romeo and Juliet.

AQA new poetry anthology posters. Created using Canva and includes QR codes to Oak Academy lessons for each of the poems. I have created these to create a poet-tree in our Enlgish corridor. An interactive and eye catching display to support GCSE. All 15 poems included.

5 lesson PowerPoints complete with the necessary resources for lessons 1, 3, 4 and 5. This mini scheme is for students who have already studied the play An Inspector Calls. The lessons cover the recall of plot, characters, themes, context and lesson 5 looks at linking these elements together. 2 lesson PPT for A Century Later - Imtiaz Dharker AQA English Literature World and Lives anthology

Innovative short scheme - 6 lessons in which you use the literature texts for GCSE to develop the language skills appropriate to the AQA board. An Inspector Calls and A Christmas Carol are used to answer Questions 1-5 from language papers 1 and 2. Successful for revising both Literature and Language and showing students the cross over of skills for all Englsih GCSE papers. My students enjoyed the scheme which was initially used for after school intervention.

Quotation gap fills that build up over time to have students recalling and retaining a variety of quotations. An Inspector Calls Macbeth A Christmas Carol Power and Conflict Poetry Starter task - students are presented with quotations from the texts they are studying for GCSE and they fill in the gaps. Over time more words from the quotations become gaps to be filled. This has been really successful for year 11 and has worked well as part of an interleaving curriculum.

2 quotations per poem, from the collection of 15, in the World and Lives anthology for GCSE English AQA literature Paper 2. Using Canva I have created posters for 2 key quotations from each poem for my own poet-tree display. The images are linked to each quotation to support dual coding. These work with my previous upload of the poem titles display posters.

Dual coded quotations for An Inspector Calls, A Christmas Carol and Macbeth. Image and quotation. Created to support KS4 revision. I have used these lots and students love them - putting them in order, using them as flash cards, asking students to create their own… Over 20 for each text.

Knowledge organiser for the Titanic - using the Titanic sinking to inspire students to write creatively. Knowledge organiser has the important information - 1 side of writing reminders and the other side has a timeline and facts about the sinking of the Titanic. Writing reminders include those for decriprive writing and newspaper article writing. The Titanic side has included a list of real life passengers students could research or take on the persona of.

Takeaway homework for year 10 / 11 students with tasks for Macbeth, A Christmas Carol and An Inspector Calls. Variety of challenge and creative tasks. Successful for interleaving homework.

Summary for each of the chapters in the abridged Odyssey. Support for SEND / LA students. Supported with images.

Print and cut taboo style game. Students are given an image to describe and a handful of banned words. Encourages students to use metaphors.

1 stave per sheet - could be printed A4 or A3. Recently used with year 11 to encourage their revision and recall of plot, themes, events and whole text links. Each stave has images which are linked to the relevant moments of each stave and are repeated where necessary to show the links (AO1). Dependant on challenge students can map on key quotations / contextual links. I told students to then stick these up on their walls!

A resource I adapted a while back. Acts one, two and three gap fills with tasks for lower, middle and higher ability students. Worked really well with my mixed ability year 10 and was quite easy to get students to mark.
