A single lesson looking into globalisation, TNCs and outsourcing. Differentiated questioning is used. The lesson takes an investigative approach, looking at why our jeans may have already travelled 40,000 miles by the time they get to us, including a production line. The idea of TNC’s is introduced and Nike used as an example which we look into.

A single lesson focusing on Megacities as part of Urban World, suitable for AQA GCSE Geography. Used for a low ability Year 9 group. This lesson focuses on what megacities are, where they are located and how they are created (push and pull factors).

A quiz to help students revise superpowers, covering topics such as general knowledge surrounding superpowers, China’s development, the Belt and Road initiative, China’s investment in Africa, the Middle East and Russia. The resource also aims to improve students understanding of key words, ideas and data interpretation. Best suited to KS3 but would also be suitable for KS4.

An introduction lesson for Urban World, suitable for GCSE AQA. Taught with Year 9 low/mid ability. This lesson focuses on rural and urban environments, their characteristics and where we live. Opportunities for map skills and reading data included.

A student led lesson to introduce India as a case study when looking at growth in an NEE as part of the AQA Urban World topic. Powerpoint, multiple hand out information sheets and starter task included. In this lesson, students will be working in groups. Each student within the group will be given a DeBono hat colour and it is their job to find particular information on the hand out given to the group. Students will then create posters with limited words which they then use to teach other members of the class.

A single lesson focusing on Urban Planning as part of the AQA Urban World topic for GCSE Geography. The lesson starts with a starter that focuses on how Birmingham City Centre may change in the future then focuses on what urban planning is. This lesson looks at urban planning with focus on BedZED in London as an example. Powerpoint and worksheet included. Used with a low ability year 9 group.
