This resource presents three or four numbers in the centre of an excel sheet. Around that are eight other numbers learners need to make using the central numbers in the order they are presented. Learners can use the four operations but need to recall which order they are carried out. Brackets are used for medium. hard and hard+. Hard+ uses four central numbers and powers / exponents. All generated ‘answer’ numbers are randomly arranged around the central numbers. For use in class, I usually do a screen clipping of the excel sheet and show this on the class display. If the generated numbers result in a terminating or repeating decimal, press F9 to refresh and get a new batch. You need to enable content to allow the sheet to properly display.
