Year 1 Challenges Passport

(0)
This is an editable ‘challenge passport’ we use these as part of our play-based Year 1 learning environment. Each week the children get a new A5 printed challenge passport that outlines their challenges for the week. The challenges are linked to the Year 1 National Curriculum objectives, usually prior learning, something that needs to be recapped or address a misconception. I usually do 1 reading, 1 writing, 1 maths, 1 creative and 1 movement challenge (to get the children outside). The challenge passports can either be kept in children’s individual trays or displayed in the classroom. When a child completes a challenge they need to show an adult, the adult signs their challenge off using a stamp or their initials in the right hand side column, once the child has completed all their weekly challenges they can put it in the jar! At the end of the week we pull a challenge passport from the jar and that child wins a prize. We use these instead of rainbow lollipop sticks. The challenge passports are a great way to ensure children are meeting curriculum during free-flow continuous provision time.
