These comprehension questions have been put into a SATs-style test (though I have changed the format to make it easier to print!) The non-fiction extract is based on Katherine Johnson from ‘Fantastically Great Women who Worked Wonders’. I have collated together different question types/stems for some of the reading domains for KS2 - so far, I have done Retrieval, Inference and Vocabulary. These will be used in Reading sessions to ensure that students are used to the language (and types of questions) used in the SATs.

This is 4 Reading lessons and 3 sets of questions based on the first chapter of The Swifts. The extract for this text is available for free on LoveReading4Kids. It is not available to download here as I do not own the text. There is a fluency development lesson to begin with, before 3 lessons on retrieval, vocabulary and inference questions using question stems from previous KS2 SATs so that students become familiar with the test language and layout. The lessons are originally .flipchart files. This uses a program called ActivInspire, which is available to download for free. I have included PDFs of the slides too.

This is half a grammar paper (25 questions) based on a novel - an attempt to put things into context and make the questions a little more interesting to answer! Mark scheme included.
