This activity is good to recap or test pupils' understanding of loci. Pupils will be able to practice using a pair of compasses, identify compass directions, use a scale on a map and demonstrate logical reasoning and spatial awareness. The instructions also provide an idea to extend the activity and also a related activity that is video based.

Students often have the misconception that all questions that share a quantity into a given ratio involves adding the parts of the ratio together, dividing the total then multiplying the answer. The ADAM (Add, Divide and Multiply) approach has confused and misled many students.
