A template for utility questions found in GCSE history. This one is designed with the edexcel GCSE 1-9 syllabus/mark scheme in mind. This is graded out of 8 marks. I used this for a revision session for my GCSE students. This was effective in helping to organise students’ answers as well as their thoughts.

GCSE History Specification 1-9 (to be used for Paper 2 Period Study) This is an exam technique breakdown for students to use; can be used during the teaching of practice questions for any of the Paper 2 period study options. This includes mark schemes, writing templates and sample answers; with annotations as prompts. Tip: if printing out in black and white change highlighting colours.

Students can be given these templates to answer practice questions. It says Germany on the front cover because its what I am teaching.

This is a lesson that was used with a year 9 mixed ability group during an observation which went very well. I have omitted parts of the lesson plan which detailed how differentiation was taking place. If you would like this, please send me a message using the comments option.
