Chernobyl Disaster, Dark Tourism, Isoline Maps
Powerpoint and accompanying resources to teach students about the Chernobyl disaster (causes and impacts), introduce them to a key skill (isoline mapping) and introduce the idea of dark tourism and why Chernobyl & Pripyat have become such tourism destinations.
Alongside creating a mini case-study of the disaster, this lesson encourages empathy and respect, as well as geographical enquiry- asking relevant questions to find out about a location or event.
Desgined to take ~2 hours though could be flexible/edited to be shorter or longer, depending on requirements.
