Six Gap-Filling Worksheets About Short Videos for ESL Learners

(0)
A pack of six fun worksheets I created - each time, students watch a short, funny animated video (about four minutes) then answer a set of questions. Aimed at A2 ESL learners. I was looking for fun things to do with my English as a Second Language students, that would fill awkward ten-minute gaps in my lessons, and this works well. It’s a really enjoyable way to boost vocabulary, and understanding of English sentence structure and grammar. All the videos required are free to watch on Youtube, and about 3-5 minutes long. They’re funny, fast-paced, and very low on dialogue. They’re aimed at learners around A2, but B1 learners will have fun and A1 learners can make some good guesses. In three cases (“Decaf”, “Nodding Off” and “Watermelon”) there are differentiated “Easy” and “Hard” worksheets. The videos are “Coin Operated”, “Nodding Off”, “Dust Buddies”, “Watermelon”, “Up (First Scene)” and “Decaf”.

A gap-filling vocabulary exercise based around a short, funny animated video, suitable for young learners or ESL learners at roughly A2 level. I was trying to find fun things to do with my English as a Second Language learners and stumbled on this idea - we watch a short (4-minute) video, then complete a gap-filling exercise to demonstrate comprehension and build vocabulary. It’s aimed at students with an A2 level of English, although B1 learners will still find it enjoyable enough, and A1 learners will be able to make plenty of good guesses. Perfect for primary schools. The video here is “Stowaway”, about two pirates facing down a sea monster - free to watch on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNbV5PPGes8; link on the worksheet).
