A fully resourced scheme of work for Ted Hughes’ allegorical novel ‘The Iron Woman.’ Aimed at Year 7 but could work/ be adapted for Years 5-8. The scheme introduces ideas about environmentalism, responsibility and protest. There is a heavy focus on allegory, symbolism and Hughes’ didactic message. The scheme is used to introduce students to the skill of analysis and walks them through scaffolded development of this skill.
