I used this lesson after an interim test with my class on the presentation of Mr. Utterson in J and H. It comprises of a model essay and activities for students to complete and use to inform a rewrite of 1 paragraph of their own work You can also add an additional starter task, by splitting the essay into paragraphs and creating a sorting activity for students to decide which order the essay should be ordered in. This will encourage them to understand how an essay should flow and ask pertinent questions about what order means in terms of an essay structure, and why this might be important.
