This worksheet explains how the students can use a bag of Liquorice Allsorts to show Variation through Genetics and the Environment. It contains a table for them to fill in about traits and then some questions to encourage self-directed learning and how we can model the types of variation. It could be used for all abilities, depending on how much scaffolding is given.

These worksheets can be used as a large part of a revision lesson all about ‘The Earth’ topic (e.g. types of rocks, the rock cycle, global warming etc.). They are suitable for Middle to Low ability and there is a ‘Challenge’ task on most of a the worksheets for higher attainers in the class. There is also a writing Challenge task for anyone who finishes the worksheets early, to practise extended writing for those longer answer ‘6 mark’ questions.
