PICTURE BOOK - NUMBER BONDS - Collette Collects by Susannah Jeffries

This is the full text of a picture book. It is a picture book with a purpose and that is to try and teach/reinforce the concept of NUMBER BONDS (ie. what adds up to 10) to kids through narrative rather than traditional maths-teaching approaches. It is a PDF file so you and print it and use it as a paper object or just open the PDF file to display on a smart board. If you are using Adobe Acrobat to display the text on the screen then select View > Page Display > Two Up to see the picture pages with the appropriate text as they would appear in a book. I want to find some people who would be up for trialling the book with their kids and reporting back to me on how it goes as part of a professional enquiry project. Please comment below and let me know if you would be interested in taking part in this. Many thanks.

I created these frames for my P2 class doing 'Book Detectives”. Summariser - create 3 pictures showing the beginning middle and end of the story and write a summary below. Word Finder - identify 4 words from their book and draw pictures. They then use the words in new sentences. Top group are using dictionaries to find definitions of the words. Question Master - they create questions about the text and classify them using Blooms. Illustrator - create a new front cover. I also issue success criteria to go with these for self, peer and teacher assessment.
