Continuous Provision planning and activities for Kings, Queens and Castles topic. We currently teach this in Spring 2 and we have developed our Continuous Provision planning so the enhancements within the classroom match the weekly topic.
This is two or three lessons for EYFS classes to teach them about the Zones of Regulation. It could be split into more lessons depending on the time of year you teach it - we teach this in Autumn 1 and 2 and we often go through it really slowly with them so they fully understand what we are teaching.
I have also uploaded the supporting lesson plan.
This document gives some ideas for carpet time activities in EYFS. Carpet Time is a great way to develop children’s communication and language skills whilst promoting a class identity.
As the year goes on, children get much more confident doing these games and can do them with growing independence.
Children in Need Planning for Friday 14th November 2025. This plan gives a range of activites which can be used on CIN and give an introduction about the importance of celebrating Children in Need.
A lovely, clear document about progression of maths skills across the EYFS curriculum. I have also added how we move learning forward in our maths provision in the classroom during the year.
A worksheet about how to set up a teacher station role play. I us this to help remind me how the area looks and what works well in this area.
It is always a very popular area.
An information document about how to set up a successful reading area in EYFS. I use this to help me set up my classroom at the start of the year and remind me what works!
A helpful document to see progression of reading and writing during EYFS. I have also included the progression of provision in the writing area during the year.
Information about using the Counting Collections project in an EYFS setting. Counting Collections helps children’s development of Early Maths. It really helped develop children’s counting and subitising skills within the Early Years classroom and all children increased their knowledge.
This is an Understanding the World lesson all about birthdays focusing on the story Kipper’s Birthday.
It is a lovely lesson around talking about celebrating a birthday and leads nicely to next week’s lesson where we focus on the birthday of Jesus.
This gets children talking about how old they are and when their birthday is. From my experience, most children don’t know when their birthdays is but say next week or tomorrow but I get the birthday display out so they can all see when their birthday is. It also gives children an opportunity to understand their friends have different birthday.
The afternoon finishes with a lovely birthday party for Kipper.
This is an Understanding the World lesson all about Nocturnal Animals. It gives children an introduction to what nocturnal means and then some animals which are nocturnal. It compares nocturnal animals to diurnal animals.
