Cover lesson used for Textiles. Students could design their own football kit or design statement dress to raise global issues.

Artists used: David Hockney, L.S. Lowry, Monet. Covering: background, middle ground, foreground, one-point perspectives, painting etc. We produced an oil pastel response to David Hockney, a pencil drawn response drawn from life on the field in the style of Lowry, and a painting for Monet whereby students were led through layering of paint. Any outcomes could be used!

Set as an Independent Learning Task, broken down into 3 parts. Part one: Students are to RESEARCH Van Gogh’s painting of shoes and produce a research page in response. Part two: Students find shoes and photograph them Part three: Students produce an outcome in response to their photograph.

I taught this to year 9 but it could run with any year. Drawing exam, peer assessment and self-assessment included. As well as images with guidelines prepared.
