I have created a resource to support the teaching of the Sir Duke set work for the new WJEC GCSE Music syllabus (from September 2025). It provides a clear analysis of the piece, helping learners to understand its key musical features, including melody, harmony, rhythm, structure, texture and instrumentation. It also includes ‘stop and spotlight’ sections, which draw attention to important elements of music theory and the stylistic characteristics of soul, funk and popular music in a focused and accessible way.

This is a SOW for KS3 based on Musicals. I initially created this resource during the COVID lock down period for year 8, which is why the main project task is based around Song Maker on Google Chrome. However, this can be adapted for any of the software you may use for composition in your school setting and for any KS3 class you may teach. There are video examples to go support what you would be delivering in the SOW. Included in the resource pack: -Scheme of Learning overview. -6 Lesson PowerPoints. -Homework tasks associated with each lesson and resource sheets. -Listening and appraisal assessment which you can use for the end of the topic.

This is a PowerPoint that I have created based on the WJEC GCSE Music Set Work ‘Everything Must Go’ by the Manic Street Preachers. It is a full analysis of the song, looking at background info, harmonic analysis etc. I have also included ‘stop and spotlight’ sections which highlight elements of theory that are important and relating them to the context of this particular song. There are also some task activities linking to important aspects of music theory.

This is a glossary of all the musical terms that pupils are expected to know for GCSE Music for WJEC/EDUQAS. It is also split into Areas of Study to make it easy for pupils to make the links with each AoS.

This PowerPoint is comprised of all of the information that pupils are expected to learn as part of the WJEC GCSE Music syllabus. It is split into the 4 Areas of Study and includes video and examples. As I originally created this resource in Google Slides and subsequently converted it into a PowerPoint, the videos now show as pictures on the screen when in presenter mode. However, I have includes all of the video links in the notes of each slide for you to access. This resource would be great to support your own schemes as well as offering to pupils as a revision aid.
