Analytical writing practice using WHAT, HOW, WHY approach throughout the powerpoint with models and sentence stems. Introduction and application to key terminology and methods. Step by step guidance on how to approach the AQA exam and essay writing. Whole essay structure and sentence stems to encourage deeper explorations. Powerpoint covers the majority of the scenes in Macbeth and the annotations are aimed at a lower ability (developing ability) class however this powerpoint does include some more challenging ideas. At the end of the powerpoint are a number of retrieval acitivties in different styles based on Macbeth infromation that teachers can pick and choose from. Lesson for AQA - Language paper 1 Section B (writing). Often students struggle with story lines - especially the endings!! At times (most of the time) there isn’t any logic behind decisions made by characters or events that take place. This activity helps students begin to build a character by focusing on the choices they make and then considering the possibilities after those choices. This is a stand alone lesson but can be used as a homework task in preparation for a Language paper 1 B assessment task.

This is a lesson to use once the poetry anthology has been taught and some written practice is needed. The lesson works through the AO skills required and marking the writting using the mark scheme the exam board have provided. If this is the first time students are coming across the mark scheme as it is, you must have to explain how to use it. There are 3 separate documents for printing the mark scheme- I’ve always given my students the copy as it helps with their planning and also as a supporting document for any essays they have written and want to improve further. Activity can be differentiated further if necessary for lower ability classes.
