A fun, creative graphing project to deepen students’ understanding of graphical functions, transformations, domains and ranges. Fits best after AS (uses some P2 knowledge e.g. circles) and as an intro to some A2 content (further function transformations and modulus functions). I typically use this project as a full week of transition post-AS exams to reengage students as we begin to cover P3/A2 content; it leads straight into P3 chapter 2 (Edexcel IAL). I have previously done simplified versions with GCSE classes after a quick introduction to circle equations. The teachers’ companion sheet contains links to sample graphs for some of the stages, as well as a few samples of final projects.
