Geography themed KS3/4 book based lesson - used for world book day based on book ‘stitched up’ by Steve Cole Includes: -full lesson ppt -work sheet -relevant book extracts The story follows Hanh, a 12-year-old girl living in a poor, rural village in Vietnam. Hoping to earn money to support her struggling family, she accepts what she is told is a job as a shop assistant in the capital city, Hanoi. Instead, Hanh is human-trafficked and forced into virtual slavery. She ends up locked in a brutal, illegal sweatshop, manufacturing high-end clothing, like intricately embroidered jeans, destined for Western high street stores. Alongside other young girls, Hanh endures 12-hour workdays, physical abuse, starvation, and toxic working conditions, forcing her to eventually plan a high-stakes, dangerous escape to reclaim her freedom.
