Matching activity designed to stimulate historical discussion on the use of evidence, by using knowledge of Ancient Greek religion and myths to match images on vases and bowls to known figures and stories. Lots of opportunities to add to understanding and knowledge of Greek culture but also to develop historical skills of interrogating primary sources of evidence, understanding aesthetics and analysing the limitations of such evidence.

Ideal for younger (KS1) children to see if they can recognise toys they still use today, or for older students (KS2-3) to explore as historical evidence: what do these items tell us about what childhood was like for Ancient Greeks? How reliable is the evidence? What limitations do these pieces of evidence have? What can they NOT tell us? Can either be viewed on a big screen, or printed and laminated for children to explore and to stimulate discussion about materials used etc.
