AQA English Literature: Extracts for Revision (Social, Political, Protest)

(1)
This is a booklet with 9 extracts for social, political, protest writing I have prepared in the style of the AQA Paper 2 (with a practice question and the information segment) for my students to use for revision. The extracts come from a range of sources, over three different centuries, to provide variety. One is in the form of a script, though I took it from a film, not a play. Hopefully it will prove helpful for other A-Level teachers in the run up to the exam!

Quote Wheel: Much Ado About Nothing Revision

(2)
A simple resource I made for my Year 11 students. They need to learn key quotes for their exam texts, and this resource helps them to organise their revision into more manageable chunks. The wheel is labelled with major themes and motifs, then students simply have to find four key quotes for each category and fill them in on their wheel. I advise my students to keep this visible at home or in their folders so that they can look at their key quotes often. Also included is my pre-annotated copy with quotes already on!

Sign of Four Revision: Character Map

(0)
A simple resource to show the relationships between the various characters in Conan Doyle’s Sign of Four. Designed to help students remember “who’s who” in the novel. The focus is more on how each character links to another, rather than each character’s arc as the plot progresses. The characters are colour-coded according to which ones feature mainly in the past/present storylines. Can be stuck into exercise books, or displayed in the classroom.

Narrative Writing: Rewriting Shakespeare's Macbeth

(0)
A single whole lesson in creative writing, looking at guiding students through a re-write of Act 1 of Macbeth. The lesson focuses on word classes: nouns, verbs and adverbs. Students then combine the story elements into their own version of the story, re-written. This is planned for a lower ability KS3 group. When my students have finished putting their draft together, I have them write up their stories into a "storybook" template. The one I use (from another member of TES) is linked here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/blank-template-children-to-create-their-own-book-6067315
