Suitable projects for years 4-9
A CAD and modelling based project which asks students to look at designing dwellings through the use of shipping containers, suitable for KS3/4 Design and Technology/3D Design.
The resource contains an editable Powerpoint and booklet.
Students look at container housing/ architect research, planning, sketchup (with instructions) and 3D modelling.
A short design project that would take around 6 lessons. A good one to use at the end of rotation or if you have minimal resources at the start of the year!
Students are asked to research, design and create a bookmark on Tinkercad. The Powerpoint can be printed with instructions of how to set up and use Tinkercad.

This resource is ideal for GCSE 3D design students, it gives a mini brief, breaks sections down into AO’s and gives tips along the way. It acts as an introduction to Onshape for the CAD element with a step by step of how to start using that program. The PowerPoint can be printed in A3 for students to record work on or it can be shared.

This is a mini project to design a World Cup themed desk tidy using Tinkercad within a 100mm x 100mm x 100mm space suitable for any class range that has access to using Tinkercad.
The resource includes a Powerpoint with instructions of how to use Tinkercad as well as the introduction to AI within design.
The resource also includes a booklet for students to record work in as well as a range of other World Cup based design activities including logo design, design a football shirt and more.
This resource looks at designing for a client using nature as an influence. The project is designed as an introduction to Onshape for students with it being a free and available resource for them.
The resource contains a 20 slide PowerPoint and printable and editable workbooklet for students to be able to record work in.
The PowerPoint and booklet set the design brief, students are asked to design a digital camera based on nature, there is a step by step of how to set up and start a drawing on Onshape. Once complete students then brand their product and explore AI looking at rendering and presentation techniques.

Students are asked to research and design an eco house. This can be done individually or in groups (eco village). The project runs for approximately 10 weeks.
There are research tasks, design tasks and CAD design tasks as well as extension tasks, the project can be completed on SketchUp, Tinkercad or both.
The project is suitable for any school doing DT or particularly 3D design. It is most suitable for KS3/4 but with the removal of a slide or 2, could be delivered from year 4 and up.
