The reasoning toolbelt provides 4 different ideas of how to support children’s reasoning skills. The visualiser- drawing out problems The organiser- using a table to organise answers Captain conjecture/ captain inconvicible - working on children explaining and proving their ideas Evi-dent- teaching children to provide mathematical evidence Can be used as a basis for whole staff training or individual teachers who want CPD or improve their class’ reasoning skills. As well as a training power point, an editable resource is provided for own working walls/ work sheets etc. Had a positive whole school impact with improved test scores on reasoning papers at our school.
