Relates to Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills English Level 1 and 2. Uses the topic of social media, looking at both reading and writing skills. Some use of YouTube and TikTok videos for challenging learners aged 14+. A full lesson (PowerPoint) that can last roughly 3 hours.

Using Pearson/Edexcel Functional Skills English past papers looking at close exercises on how to pass level 1 and 2 reading.There is also 4 writing activities I have made up to that develop creativity through writing. Topics such as celebrity and end of year celebrations. Your students failing reading level 1 and/or 2 by a few marks, this resource will break down the exam as part of a walk-through lesson to make the skills easier to decipher.

This works well with disengaged learners. There is also two entry 3 starter activities at the end. This lesson breaks down how to write using past papers.

Great lesson to support students in revising for the two exam papers coming up: x1 1 hour 30 min lesson on revising the overviews of both papers for June’s exams. Also x1 1 hour 30 min lesson on revising language features involving a game from YouTube to help revise 6 language features for paper 1. PowerPoint with countdown timers (with music if needed) and snappy help guides. To adapt to suit your own methods. A really bright, vibrant PowerPoint. Our most reluctant students have embraced this lesson and found it really helpful. Observed twice in one week my SLT and an external visitor from ETF who all commented highly upon the methods used to help create a revision tool.
