Functional Skills Level 1- English Theme Park Theme Throughout this topic, students will be introduced to Functional skills with a focus on Reading. They will develop their understanding of why writers write and explore how writers use language and structural features to engage the reader, considering both purpose and audience. They will begin to recognise vocabulary typically associated with specific types and purposes of texts alongside comparing information, writers’ ideas and opinions within different texts. Students will further enhance their reading skills by learning how to make inferences from a range of text, using evidence to support their ideas. These skills will be consolidated through a variety of worksheets, guided discussions, and collaborative activities, enabling students to build confidence and apply their learning independently.
