Each text includes a very brief summary with a set of 4 questions - 2 on the use of language and 2 on the use of structure. There is then space to write up a response to the question of how the writer uses language and structure to create a specific effect. This booklet is particularly relevant for Edexcel English Language Paper 1, however it can be used for any exam board or scheme of work where you want your students to become more familiar with 19th century texts, as well as how to write a focused response about a writer’s use of language and structure.
