Musical interaction is crucial for children with special needs as it offers a unique and engaging way to enhance their cognitive, emotional, and social development. Through music, children can improve their communication skills, as they learn to express themselves and understand others in a non-verbal language. It also promotes emotional regulation, helping children manage their emotions and reduce anxiety. Additionally, music can enhance motor skills through activities like playing instruments or dancing, providing a fun and motivating form of physical therapy. The inclusive nature of music allows children to connect with peers, fostering a sense of belonging and boosting their self-esteem. Overall, musical interaction serves as a powerful tool to support the holistic development of children with special needs. This pack includes songs, suggested resources and communcation to support the delivery of this.

I have created this resource to support pupils with engagement surrounding their special interests. This resource could be laminated and have pupils write the missing numbers or to support pupils knowledge develop there are matching number cards that can be used instead. Could be used a functional skill activity, in line with pupils short term outcomes, TEACCH basket activity, morning work or as part of a stand alone maths lesson.

Using Blanks Level 2, and 2ICW’s this worksheet can be used as a TEACCH activity, morning work activity, stand alone intervention piece. Could be laminated to allow them to use a white board pen to tick the correct answer or there are ticks that could be laminated and velcroed on to support access. This could be used for small group interventions or for SEN pupils for developing understanding and communication.
