6 reading activities to encourage reluctant readers to engage. Similar to Tic-Tac-Toe, the child and teacher take turns to decode and blend simple sentences until they have three in a row. Useful for disguising reading as a fun game. With simple icons to support and provide hints, you could play this game with counters or ask the child to colour the matching picture once they have read it. This could also support fine motor skills and pencil grip.

I created them as I was being moderated and wanted to make sure I had no gaps. The moderation was easier.

A set of EIGHT A4 writing prompts. Each prompt consists of a colour picture with associated topic words and lines below. These have a WALT included to remind pupils to use punctuation and adjectives. They would be suitable as an independent assessed writing prompt, as an independent guided reading task or as an intervention activity to encourage speaking and listening, inference or writing.
