Code. Data. Play. A complete coding unit

Take absolute beginners to a finished, playable, database-backed game.45 lessons, 704 pages, every program tested, full teacher guides, rubrics, and curriculum mapping to Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and Australian Curriculum v9. Free software only. Most coding units stop at “print your name” or hand students a game engine and hope. This one goes the whole way: a student who has never programmed starts with print() in Lesson 1 and finishes by designing, building, testing and evaluating their own game with a relational database, menus, particle effects and automated tests. Everything is written to be taught, not just read. Every one of the 45 lessons has learning intentions and success criteria, vocabulary, a warm-up, worked examples with real output, prediction tasks, core, stretch and challenge tasks, a debug corner of the errors students will actually hit, five check-your-understanding questions and an exit ticket. Every Teacher Guide lesson has a timed lesson plan, misconceptions, differentiation, and a full answer for every task, including tested sample code. What students build Beginner: Quiz Master, a console quiz with validated input, a menu and an SQLite leaderboard. Intermediate: Meteor Dodge, an arcade game with a two-table leaderboard, in-game name entry and personal statistics. Advanced: Brick Blitz, a complete game built feature by feature over ten lessons, then a capstone game of the student’s own design, with a design document, sprints, tests, accessibility options and an evaluation. All graphics are drawn in code with pygame: rectangles, circles, polygons and lines. There are no art assets to buy, nothing to download, and students can explain every pixel.
