Get Year 4 ready for the June multiplication tables check: 30 practice checks built to the published rules, 11 times tables tests and an answer key for every page. A4, print and go: every page prints in black and white. What is inside 11 times tables tests (the 2 to 12 times tables), 25 questions each, both ways round (7 × 4 and 4 × 7). 30 practice checks, 25 questions each, built to the published rules. A pupil tracker, a class record and an answer key for every page (1,025 questions in all). How each practice check is built 25 questions from the 2 to 12 times tables (no 1s), each written like 7 × 8 =. More questions from the 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 times tables, which the framework names as the hardest: each check has 2 to 4 from each of them and no more than 2 from the 2s or the 10s. No question twice, and never a question with its reversal (3 × 8 and 8 × 3) on the same check. No two practice checks share more than 7 of their 25 questions. How to use In June, Year 4 pupils in England answer 25 multiplication questions on screen, 6 seconds each. These pages practise the same kind of questions on paper. Start with the times tables tests, one table at a time. Move on to the practice checks when a pupil knows most tables. Timing on paper: aim for 2 minutes 30 seconds a page (6 seconds a question), or read one question aloud every 6 seconds. Pupils write the score and time at the top and keep a record on the tracker. Answer keys: one for every page, the answers in colour in the same places (they read in black and white too). The rules come from the Standards and Testing Agency’s multiplication tables check assessment framework (2018, updated for 2022). Terms: One purchase is a licence for one teacher, who may print and copy the pages for their own pupils, teaching assistants and supply teachers, or for one family’s own children. Each extra teacher needs an extra licence, and the file may not be shared on a public website. How it was made: Our own programs chose the questions, laid out every page and drew it, and a separate checking program read the finished file: it solved every question, matched every answer in the keys and tested every practice check against the published rules. The programs were written with an AI assistant. This is a digital download (PDF, A4).
