This is a series of 11 lessons that I have put together for a 6 week unit of work on the Tudors. Lessons focus on King Henry VIII and his wives and on portraits, but they also touch on Tudor society, including crime and punishment, the Battle of Bosworth, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth. A set of 14 word problems involving money with a funfair theme, created for a year 5 class. Children will need to add, subtract, multiply and calculate percentages of decimals. I have set the margins wide so the children can choose the question they would like to tackle and stick it in there book with no annoying bits of paper hanging out. I always really struggle to find exemplar non-chronological reports, especially any suitable for upper KS2. This is a non-chronological report that I wrote about blast-ended skrewts (a magical creature from the Harry Potter books). I used it with my bright year 5 class. We used it as a model text to examine before the children wrote their own about mythical creatures. Hope it helps someone!

A couple of activities for year 2 on expanded noun phrases. The first simply provides a range of images for children to write expanded noun phrases about. The second activity gets children to think carefully about nouns, phrases, expanded noun phrases and sentences by building them step by step. I cut into strips and children wrote detailed explanations of similarities and differences between the shapes underneath.
