This resource is a series of quick 5 minute starters/‘do now’ activities, practising high frequency language and key structures. The starters are a mixture of writing & speaking activities.
We print the PowerPoint as a booklet for students to keep for the year. We print 3 slides per page, giving students space to write their answers/make notes. Students are expected to complete an activity at the start of each lesson and then we quickly go through this with them, checking answers and addressing any gaps in knowledge/misconceptions.
The activities are designed to provide essential retrieval practice and reinforce students’ confidence with high frequency language and structures. Once completed, the booklet can be kept and referred back to in preparation for the GCSE exam.
