Brief intro into maths in everyday life notes are included on types of questions to ask and a few extra activities to go with it. Made for students with ASD but can be adapted for others. Ends with activity at table where students are to look at different photos of shapes (road signs, different types of food etc) use objects and correctly identify the shape. Use 2D and 3D shapes.
This is a story for KS1/2 learners with SEND about growing up using key words big and small. The presentation is in powerpoint format with 13 slides including a game and PECs board.
This is a 40 minute lesson, plan structure you can adapt it depending on your class.
1 - Introduce the title and have warm up song
2. Read through the story - print story for students to read along with or use the PECs board on the last slide which is more simplified
3. Add videos if you wish in certain parts of the story
4. Once you have read the story students can complete ‘big or small’ game (splat the correct flashcard)
5. Extension ideas
Play some big/small songs
Collect some items and put into big basket or small basket
Make big models using lego blocks and small models using play dough
Individual work - matching PECs and sorting items
