(0)
This is a 10 lesson scheme of learning looking at poetry about nature. Written for year 8 it would also be suitable for a year 7 class. The poems looked at include: A Bird Came Down the Walk by Emily Dickinson A Barred Owl by Richard Wilbur Extract from Mont Blanc by Percy Shelley Extract from Hymn Before Sun-rise, in the vale of Chamouni by Samuel Taylor Coleridge The Sea by James Reeves The Jaguar by Ted Hughes The lessons focus on exploring and analysing the poems, exploring the writers use of language and structure and writing analytical responses to the poems. There are also opportunities for the students to create their own poetry and an assessment at the end of the scheme.

This is an 18 lesson SoL I created to use in my school to teach AQA Language Paper 2. It was created after the updates were made by AQA to the questions on the language papers from 2026 onwards so is fully up to date. It guides students through how to answer all 5 questions on the paper with key information on how to answer each question and frequent opportunities for students to apply this knowledge to practice questions. Lessons 1- 8 make reference to the AQA June 2018 paper Lessons 11 and 17 use the AQA June 2023 paper for a summative assessment. AQA have released this paper with 2026 style question updates. All other printable resources are built into the SoL ready to be printed.

Private Peaceful KS3 Scheme of Learning (SoL)

An 18 lesson scheme of learning on ‘Private Peaceful’ by Michael Morpurgo I created for my Year 7 class but also suitable for a year 8 class. I taught this in the summer term and alongside reading the novel the SoL revisits key reading and writing skills covered throughout year 7 including creative writing, persuasive writing, language analysis, structure analysis and consideration of the writer’s purpose and intention. Links to key historical context are made throughout the SoL. It does not include an assessment but this could be easily added. All lessons are fully resourced with printing built into the slides for each lesson.
