I have created this lesson as I have found that since we implemented the New AQA specification, students are finding it difficult to access the language in the 19th Century text. The extract is written by Dickens. This lesson was very successful and facilitated access to language for students. 2x lessons x 55 mins.

Arranged Marriage text AQA English New Specification Paper 1 Reading and Writing section. All questions and assessment objectives. I originally created this PowerPoint for KS3. First of all, so that they are familiar with the new AQA specification and Assessment objectives. Graded as an Outstanding lesson. The starter is 'Interpreting Images' - an image of Frankenstein's monster. Students have to list 5 adjectives. Challenge and differentiation incorporated. Section A Reading - There is an exam style question for all 4 questions. Simplified for KS3 to access. Section B Writing - Exam style questions with image. Simplified for KS3 to access.

Writing Task - Paper 2 non-fiction (new spec) exam style question. **The acronym I use to teach writing to argue is FAR MORE FACES: Facts, Alliteration, Repetition, Metaphor, Opinion, Rhetorical Q, Emotive language, Formal language, Anecdote, Counter Argument, Exaggeration, Similes/Statistics. Plenary - Peer Assess. 2 stars and a wish - Star = Positive, Wish = Constructive criticism. At the Academy I teach at, our lessons are 50 minutes. This is why I have categorised it as a whole lesson for high ability learners. Low ability learners = 2 lessons.

A developed and structured SOW that supports both higher and lower ability students. There is a huge range of activities. This is a multi-week unit, approximately 6 weeks. I have created this SOW for my multi-academy trust in order to prepare students for their mock examinations. The SOW includes: scaffolded activities, exam style questions, mark schemes etc. and focuses on all Assessment Objectives, 1-6. The lessons consist of a range of activities and strategies in order to support all learners. Paper 1 lessons are focused on 'Girl on a Train' extract with exam style questions to accompany. KS4 - Paper 2 Non-fiction New AQA Specification. All reading section questions. Focuses on the topic of disability (Issues and Opinions) - I used the topic of disability as a discussion point to start. Very interesting topic and students thoroughly enjoyed it.
