Each slide has been presented with 2 different examples: a question and a model. Use this to support children’s visual understanding of laying out partiitioning correctly. I created these during lockdown 3.0 as I couldn’t find useful slides which clearly demonstrated column method using grids good step by step demonstrations. There are 16 slides which model 2 different questions- in clear steps (8 each) The beginning uses counters and base tens to support visual understanding of formal method. On some of the slides you will see there is a little box which shows the previous slide. This helps to support children’s prior understanding. Noticing what happens if you forget to add on the tens or hundreds. (model this). Please feel free to edit the powerpoint to suit your own classes needs and teaching style. I hope they are useful to you during lockdown and future teaching while saving you the time.
