Letters From the Lighthouse inspired writing units for Upper KS2
Here are 6 units of handcrafted writing tasks linked to chapters 1-10 from the Novel ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ by Emma Carroll. Aimed at Upper KS2, the units allowed children to produce some wonderful work.
Planning and resources are inspired by the document created by ‘National Book Tokens of chapter-by-chapter resources.’ This document outlined fantastic writing opportunities that could be used, and lessons have been created around 6 of these ideas.
Resources include an overview of units; planning; PowerPoints/google slides for each unit and differentiated resources. The majority of units have 2x1.5hr lessons, over a time frame of 3hours. However, the plans are easily adaptable for remote learning and 3 x1hour lessons. Some things included may reference other planning we use (cross curricular work).
