A collection of journal articles and original accounts of womens experiences in the last 100 years are used to teach non fiction reading skills. All texts are carefully chosen and presented in different forms with some sounds and images to engage and inspire all types of students to read non fiction.

Key Stage 3 Amazing Women, teaches implicit and explicit reading skills and allows students to compare how women have changed and developed in the last 100 years. Here is one lesson provided FREE (please review if you can) as part of a unit of work encouraging English students of all ages to engage with ideas about women . The whole unit exists to teach a full range of reading skills which would enhance the teaching of a whole school reading strategy. In this topic you will read a range of non fiction texts about adventurous and talented women. Studentswill read biographies, autobiographies, journals, diaries and summaries of the things that women have done over time. The focus of your skills development will be reading. You will be asked to read for meaning, select information, think carefully about vocabulary and reflect on the events and the language used to describe them.
