This was written with my county advisor - (just in case she finds it, I will give her some of the credit). It is a collection of activities that will feed into the National Curriculum in year 7 - a forces topic. I hope you have access to concept cartoons.

A ppt lesson that combines the science of blood with thoughts about the BLM movement. There is rare material in the science curriculum where a black scientist is celebrated and as such this opportunity should not be missed. The slides include basics about the components in blood and their functions. When key phrases such as blood plasma are familiar the story of Charles Drew is told via a couple of youtube links and a biography activity.
Also included is another ‘Name the black scientist’ ppt. Students will struggle, but that is the point, the black scientists do not get their story told.
This is this a one lesson quick review of the topic.
I ask the students to make note of the key points so they have a summary sheet at the end of it...
