Here you will find a 6 week unit of work, complete with detailed planning, a work booklet, resources and an engaging PowerPoint presentation containing 58 slides for your lessons. Age range: Year 1 or Year 2 Fully editable and PDF version available Following recent changes at my school regarding the planning and teaching of Art and Design & Technology, we now use booklets for each project. These booklets not only serve as lesson plans, ensuring consistency in content and delivery, but also provide a clear way to document the children’s progression in skills and knowledge. In our recent OFSTED inspection, the structure, design and layout of our booklets were praised. The lesson planning outlines the WALT, success criteria, resources needed, input ideas and independent activities. Can be used without any editing or can be easily adapted for your class. This will hopefully save you hours of time! :)

6 week unit of work with all planning, work booklet and Powerpoints included. Age range: Year 1 or Year 2 Fully editable Completed example booklet included My school have recently changed how we plan and teach design and technology and one of these changes is how we record the children’s work. We now use booklets for each project and one of the benefits of booklets is that they can double up as lesson plans so we can ensure a consistency of content and delivery. It is also an easy, clear way of evidencing the progression of skills and knowledge throughout the projects. The children absolutely loved this project and their final models were fantastic! Edited July 2023 - This now includes a new lesson as part of the focused skills task. It supports the children’s understanding in joining processes and making their structures sturdier. There is also an extension activity where the children have to use their problem-solving skills to fix a structure that keeps falling over - perfect for your higher achievers that need a challenge! This lesson was observed during an Ofsted inspection and received great feedback. I have also added PDF versions of the booklet and other files, as I understand that some people don’t have the same fonts that my school use. The files now include a cursive and non-cursive font version.
