Non-participant Worksheets

(13)
The worksheets are aimed at various abilities and stages of development. All resources are relatively straight forward to follow and require little input from staff. Resources follow lessons and build skills required for examination aspects of the subject. They were designed to ensure students are fully involved in PE even when unable to participate in the practical element. I have used and developed them successfully over the past five years with students completing them to good standards especially when discussed with them after the lesson. Each sheet is two sided and some have been used in Ofsted inspected lessons with good feedback regarding usefulness and structure. I hope you find them as helpful as I have. If you have any ideas you would like adding I would be happy to look into extending the range available!

Ipad related non-participant task cards

Two (at the moment) task cards that give students constructive tasks to carry out using an ipad when unable to participate. Currently others are being looked at and trialled in lessons. If successful they will be added to the file and uploaded.

Battle of Hastings 1066

Having finished a unit about the Battle of Hastings I decided to re-create the battle with the students almost like experimental archaeology! With art and homework they created shields (Simple search online for creating cardboard shields), helmets and swords for the day. These took some time to create so organise this at the start and keep tabs on its progress - I offered rewards when they brought them in. Once completed I then used a PE lesson as I taught that as well and it was the only opportunity to get all the groups involved together, the cross over is in the tactical aspects and the javelins/arrows! we filmed all of the phases including mistakes and then I made a video of the lesson using a BBC documentary for the voice over. The video was then shown to all the Y7's, SLT and staff available. The students loved all the various aspects and I believe they got a lot more out of this than just the classroom lessons we had done. Hope you can make good use of it (We had about 10-15 per side but would have worked well with more!)
