Also included is a bioenergetics quiz -which contains all the hinge questions from my earlier lessons combined into one PowerPoint and a worksheet to accompany it which links each question to the point from the exam specification to allow students to see the areas they need to improve on

This was a lesson and activity used in an interview to prepare GCSE students to carry out the required practical of sampling with quadratsfor the new AQA Trilogy 9-1 specification. The sheet was printed on A3 colour as the inside pages of a booklet I produced and students had to make some quadrats with pipecleaners and take random samples and then analyse their data. The theme of a lesson was that they were employed by a drugs company and were trying to work out if it was viable to go to a remote area of the amazon to collect a plants for its useful drug properties so it had cross curriculum links to other topics. Lesson was differentiated by then having students attempt different exam questions depending on how well they completed the task UPDATE. I have now included the accompanying powerpoint and exam questions. The content from the powerpoint is my own but the template for the powerpoint came from a colleague

A simple comprehension activity for the first lesson of the ‘Using Earths resources’ section of the new AQA 9-1 Trilogy scheme of work. Information is taken directly from the specification along with some tasks for the students to complete to demonstrate and show their understanding. Can be easily adapted and changed as necessary. I find this works well with medium to lower ability students as they can work independently at their own pace whilst you are able to facilitate their learning.

A simple activity which can be used for either KS3 or GCSE to help students understand how adaptations within the peppered moth species provides evidence towards Natural selection. The lesson can be easily differentiated by altering or changing the questions and if the cut and stick activity takes too long you can shade the moth in before printing them. Its a nice way to get students working and visualising natural selection in action. I cant take credit for the idea behind this resource as Ive seen it somewhere before (I do not know where) ive just altered it slightly to suit me.
