Narrative mini scheme of work

(25)
A mini scheme of work that leads to the writing of a short narrative. The powerpoint is broken down into a series of lessons and contained within this folder are all the supporting resources. I created this as exam preparation with the intention that once the class had written a narrative they could then see how their story could be adapted to fit a number of exam style questions (with a little tweaking.) It could also be used to help prepare for a controlled assignment.

Science Fiction Powerpoint Lesson Plans

(16)
A series of powerpoints to support the analysis and discussion of science fiction tropes and genres. I wrote the scheme of work and it has been adapted for different ability classes. These powerpoints therefore do not necessarily tie in with the exact lessons as outlined on the scheme. Invariably as it has been taught I have changed it quite a lot for the different classes. I have uploaded these becuase they might be useful.

The Romeo and Juliet Coursework workbook (there is one aimed at lower ability syudents as well) deals with Juliets relationship with her parents and how it changes. The essay question is 'Examine act 1 scene 3, and act 3 scene 5 of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. What impression do you receive of Juliet’s parents? Do you sympathise with the way they treat their daughter?&' The workbook is broken down into sections with the idea that each section should be written up to form a different section of the essay. Homeworks and some powerpoints are included to support the coursework pack.

A series of examples modelled and 2 templates for class to create own PEE chains. Also including short extracts of text about Dr Roylott leading to an assessed piece of writing using PEE. Thanks teachit for giving me the idea! These have helped enormously with a lower ability year 8 class, hope they will benefit others.

My Character literacy plus unit

(15)
The My character literacy plus scheme of work broken down into lesson by lesson powerpoints and adapted slightly. The class it was used for was relatively low ability so there is a lot of repetition and reinforcement over the slides. The unit focuses on sentence construction and accurate punctuation. The scheme of work and slides are not my own work they have been taken directly from the DfeS site. However, the powerpoints have then broken this down a little bit more. I hope it helps.

(11)
A series of lessons on powerpoint covering cluster 2 poetry. Admittedly some of these have been adapted from what other people have done, however I have tried to cover different aspects and link it all together. (I have used someone else 'Britishness', a lot of &'Not my Business&'; and some of the 'Hurricane Hits England&' are from elsewhere so thank you to whoever I got those from - like I say just putting them all together) , There is a strong focus on the assessment objectives and these link to each of the lessons. Hope they will be of benefit to others.

A series of lessons and activities based on the book The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. This is one of my favourite books of all time, so my Head of Department bought a set and allowed me to teach exam skills through it. All of the tasks are geared towards the Cambridge IGCSE English exam syllabus. While it is not a set text, it is a fabulous book that lent itself to teaching skills required for the reading papers (mostly the core paper.) The lessons all have a specific exam focus in mind. There are a selection of packs uploaded to cover a number of lessons.
