The resource is a complete PPT of 849 slides, with detailed tasks, artist context, example work and extended outcome stimulus. You can find examples of students’ artwork produced during the completion of this project in the two links below. I have taught this project to iGCSE students, which is evident in the documentation of the students work in the two links, however, this project can easily be used as a non-international qualification project. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/igcse-art-and-design-2019-2020-component-1-coursework-12295331 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/igcse-art-and-design-edexcel-2018-2019-component-1-coursework-boards-and-grades-12206413 The project has been adjusted, refined and built upon over three years of teaching the project. Composition - iGCSE GCSE (Complete Project) GRADE 9 ACHIEVED ART & DESIGN

(1)
Composition exploration project from various contextual perspectives, primarily built upon the work of Rene Magritte. The resource is a complete project, from step one of the project to the final documentation stage of the project. Included in the bundle are clear and direct PPTs with tasks, related context, stimulus and student examples. The project directs the students through various compositional ideas, in particular surrealist ideas to the pictorial space. Students develop an awareness of compositional approaches and produce personal responses concerning the context. The project builds towards the successful combination of different compositional ideas from the projects, building first towards a practice outcome followed by a refined final outcome. THE PROJECT IS INCLUDED IN ONE PPT WITH BLUE DIVIDING SLIDES BETWEEN TASKS. Please see pacing document for my pacing for this project. The project builds on prior skills of media use.

iGCSE Art and Design - Component 1 (Coursework): Exemplar boards

(3)
I have found it very difficult in the past to find exemplar boards for the iGCSE art course. As someone who was educated in the UK, and taught in the UK, getting to grips with only using four boards was a challenge. I looked frequently for example boards online to no avail, including looking on the Edexcel website, but I found the example work out dated and not in line with the needs of ESL students. I have therefore put together a PDF document of exemplar work from my current cohort of Year 11 iGCSE students, who completed a project focussed on the theme of Fragmentation and Distortion. I hope this is helpful for anyone who faced the same challenge as me. I have many PPTs and lesson resources that accompany the project.

Abstract Art - Project Starter and Inspiration

This is a presentation I use for the start of an Abstract project with Year 12 AS Fine Art Students. The presentation details current abstract artists that continue to challenge the boundaries of artistic expression. There are artistic to suit all students abilities and interests, providing a starting point for students to produce a variety of outcomes from process painting, digitally enhanced artwork and even bring the techniques learnt back towards a more organic outcome such as the figure. Finding artists can be difficult at times and this is a bank of artists I have gathered over the last few years. At times I use the presentation as a visual reference point for myself, or to simply inspire a stale project on a individual basis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wsZf1KigFI&feature=youtu.be A presentation detailing current Abstract artists, with varying approaches to media, form and colour, including the introduction of modern technology to produce artwork. Artists exploring new approaches to Abstraction, stepping beyond the boundaries of Abstract Expressionism that has continued to sit on top of the pedestal as the forefront of Abstraction. Whilst many of the artists featured bare the ghosts of the forefathers of Abstraction, they continue to challenge the boundaries of artistic expression, when at times it can feel that no art is no longer new and unique. Artist's continue to push the boundaries of abstraction, inspired by the ever changing geometric architectural forms in environments we inhabit. The artists noted are all currently producing and exhibiting work on the global stage, with individual approaches to abstraction that continue to challenge texture, pictorial space and structure. Get inspired and start painting.

Due to the cancellation of the ESA (component 2) and the uncertainty over the marking/submission of marks for the 2019-2020 Art and Design course I have produced a PPT of my students’ component 1 artwork. I have included my predicted marks for each students’ body of work over the four boards, from A01 to A04. PROJECT RESOURCE - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/fragmentation-and-distortion-comlete-project-grade-9-achieved-12318130 I hope this resource will help others with your marking process. I welcome any feedback regarding my marking, and see this as an opportunity to conduct online collaboration moderation. My marking has been informed by the 2018 – 2019 marks awarded by Edexcel. You can find this additional resource using this link - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/igcse-art-and-design-component-1-coursework-exemplar-boards-12073294 (the marks on this document are official marks from Edexcel) If you would like to contact me privately my email is adamkempart@hotmail.com

PPT contains images of my students artwork for Component 1, along with the marks (grades) for each student. Grades from 9 to 6. These are the marks and related grade boundaries for iGCSE Art & Design work for the 2018 - 2019 cohort. PROJECT RESOURCE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/fragmentation-and-distortion-comlete-project-grade-9-achieved-12318130 Please do not see my examples as a template for what Edexcel are exactly looking for. I recently attended a training course run by Edexcel in relation to the marking and moderation of the artwork submitted. There was a variety of artwork, with various approaches to the boards. I have found it hard to find examples online with grades, or examplars that have helped to clarify my awareness of the assessment objective expectations in relation to marks awarded. I hope you can find this helpful. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I will post a second PPT regarding Component 2. adamkempart@hotmail.com
