Great resource, which could be used for one or possibly two classes. This resource is used for 1st year students (12-13 years olds) of German in Ireland in teaching the vocabulary for Family as well as the possessive articles mein/meine. When using this resource, I usually ask students to repeat the content of most of the slides, starting at slide 4. I will then ask a few of them to practice the vocabulary by asking them questions such as 'wie heißt dein Bruder?/ wie heißt deine Schwester?" and then students can address the content meaningfully. It uses the Simpsons as a reference and is colour coded. Hope you find it as useful as I have! Enjoy!

This history study guide is one based on the Irish Junior Certificate Syllabus but it can be adapted to suit most history syllabi. It is a fantastic study guide as it categorises key elements of the course and makes it easier for students to learn a great deal of information by breaking it down for them. This covers the syllabus up until Christmas but it can be adapted for Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages and so on. It includes the work of the historian and archaeologist; conservation; the Stone Age; The Bronze Age; the Celts and the iron Age. It also provides practical study tips.

These are notes on the topic of ‘Arbeit’ for senior level students. It is both useful for oral work and written. It covers a variety of aspects and encourages students to make a list of new vocabulary at the end, rather than just providing it. I usually hand this out in class and go through it so they can take note of any new vocabulary. I then test them on the new vocabulary the next day. I build on this by asking them various questions from the notes at the start of class throughout the week, constantly reinforcing the new phrases and vocabulary.

This is a group activity which can be used to recap on Ancient Rome. There are a number of words or categories on it. Print the sheet out and paste it on to cardboard/ laminate it. Then cut it into cards. Hand the cards out to students and then advise them that in 2 minutes time, you are going to pick a student at random to state 1 or 2 facts about the topic. However, the catch is, that some students have the same card so they can't state the same facts twice. In this way, students have to listen to each other, learning from one another. I ask all students to stand before asking them to speak about their card, and then once they have given an answer, they are asked to sit down. I use this activity at the end of the chapter or right before exams. Students treat it like a game and they learn a lot from one another. It is a fun activity.
